| In
1982 a few dedicated payroll people began
meeting for
dinner once a month in Auburn. In 1984 Rainier was chosen for the chapter name.
The Rainier Chapter has grown into on organization dedicated to the education
of payroll professionals. The
chapter meets
on the third Thursday of each month with a short business meeting followed by a
program pertinent to payroll. Topics cover technical areas such the Internal
Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, Payroll Deductions, Equal
Opportunity, and areas of personal development. |
| Another
valuable benefit of attending
monthly meetings
is the opportunity to meet and talk with other payroll professionals. We share
our experiences, goals, and frustrations as we network together during the
social hour and dinner. |
| Each
year prior to the
Payroll Certification Exam, Rainier
Chapter holds two full day
exam-preparation training classes.
Rainier Chapter now boasts nearly 100 Certified Payroll Professionals (CPP). |
| In
an effort to reach out to an even larger population of Payroll Professionals,
once a year the Chapter sponsors a conference designed as a professional
development tool for all levels of payroll practitioners. |
| The
Chapter currently has a contact list of approximately 200. The average
attendance at
monthly meetings
is around 60. Membership in the American Payroll Association (APA) is
encouraged, but not mandatory for attending Rainier Chapter functions. The
chapter newsletter contains
information about the local chapter as well as APA National information. We
also publish
job openings,
job search results and
government information on our
Discussion Board. |
| If
you are not currently receiving the
chapter newsletter,
please notify the
Membership chairperson
or a
chapter officer.
Your name will be placed on our mailing list and we hope that you will join us
at an
upcoming meeting
for what we feel will be a very rewarding experience. |
