Visit Our Photo Gallery Are you interested in advancing your career opportunities by becoming a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or acquiring your Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), but don’t know exactly where to begin? You might consider participating in a Certification Study Group, hosted by your Rainier Chapter, APA. Typically held twice a year, Certification Study Groups are open to all chapter members in good standing. Designed to assist members in preparing for APA Certification(s), study groups are facilitated by chapter members who have obtained their CPP qualifications and volunteer their time and experience in helping other members do the same. Certification Study Groups also provide a great opportunity for those who have their CPP/FPC’s to earn RCH’s by attending and/or teaching. Spring 2008 Certification Study Group Session "Payroll Principles and Proficiency" This spring, the certification review sessions will be held March 22nd and 29th. This is a great opportunity for those who are planning to take the CPP or FPC exam in March/April, as well as those who already have their certification, but would like to update their knowledge and challenge their proficiency. The March sessions will be hosted at NetObjectives in Bellevue and facilitated by Shannon Hentschell, PHR. Each Saturday session addresses seven different chapters of the 2007 Payroll Source. The fee for these sessions is $40 for one Saturday, $75 for both Saturdays. Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon refreshments and additional study materials. Why You Should Participate… Designed to cover all 14 chapters of the Payroll’s Source text, study group allow members to exchange knowledge and practical test taking hints, as well as establish and help keep an organized study schedule. By realizing that you’re not alone in this endeavor, you are more likely to continue with and see the program through to a successful completion. It should come as no surprise, but individuals who have participated in a Certification Study Group typically score higher on the exams than their counterparts who opted to study on their own. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) The CPP Certification Exam is for Payroll Professionals who have met the appropriate prerequisites or criteria, details of which can be obtained on the National APA’s website. Testing Dates: March 29 – April 26, 2008 Testing Fees: Spring 2008 is $340.00     Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) The FPC Certification Exam is open to Entry-level professionals, and in many cases is used as a stepping stone in achieving the Certified Payroll Professional certification.
